Zombie Panic for Christmas!

I’ve been monitoring all the zombie games, most of which are HL2 mods, and they’ve all been suffering from a lack of updates.  Zombie Master, which was supposed to see an update on Halloween, hasn’t been updated yet.  The mod’s devs keep quieting the forum backlash with, “It will be done when it’s done.”

Another mod, No More Room in Hell, which hasn’t even been released yet, has seen steady updates.  Unfortunately, most of the updates aren’t even about the game and are actually about the development team and website.

Then there is Left 4 Dead, a stand alone game being developed by Turtle Rock Studios in conjunction with Valve.  There game is set to release sometime in January of 2008, but no updates have come out since their EA Showcase videos.

Last, but certainly not least, is Zombie Panic (ZP), an old HL1 zombie mod that is being redeveloped for Valve’s Source engine.  Oddly enough, updates have been very sparse and critics, mainly the fanbases for the other zombie mods, have started dismissing it as a dead project.  To their dismay, however, the Zombie Panic team has revealed a release date!  Moreover, their release date is December 28th!  Merry Christmas!

While the other mods are struggling for updates, Zombie Panic looks to take hold of the bored fanbases.  Of course, I’m predicting that a majority of these mods’ fanbases will flock to Left 4 Dead when it’s released, but in the meantime ZP is in a great position to take the lead.  I know what I’ll be downloading on the 28th, do you?
