Hugh Laurie is Gordon Freeman

Errr… at least, he should be.

I was doing some random Google searches tonight, as I’m often prone to do when I’m slightly bored, and ran across an entry called “Gordon House” on the blog Heap of Random Thoughts.

The entry was written earlier this year, February 8th to be exact, so it may not exactly be breaking news, but I thought it was cool.  If Valve ever decided to create a movie based on the Half-Life series, one of the best-selling and most acclaimed PC games ever, who would be the perfect Gordon Freeman?  Who could pull off the quiet and contemplative attitude of a theoretical physicist?  Well, if nothing else, Hugh Laurie seems to fit the mold perfectly.

Now, my only hope would be that Christopher Nolan would be the director, thus turning a Half-Life movie into The Dark Knight of movies based on video games.

On the other hand, some people seem to think that Edward Norton would be a better Gordon Freeman:

But, I’m a Hugh Laurie fan, so I’m going to be a little bias.

I’m getting a little carried away though since there is no Half-Life movie planned.  Although, I think it would be really cool to see Hugh Laurie in a star role of a movie.  Oh well… all I know is that if Hugh Laurie was Gordon Freeman… the sheer awesomeness of it would probably cause some kind of catastrophic event.

  1. What about AlexTaldren… if you’ve seen the action shot of him at the arcade with a gun you’d know what I’m talking about!

  4. [...] If you’ve had a chance to play through Half-Life 2 at any point, you’d probably realize that making a movie about Gordon Freeman would be next to impossible. Not only have you already been there and done that, but the chances of it working right without House’s Hugh Laurie would feel a bit wrong. [...]
